In the Meadows of the Shire
“In the Meadows of the Shire” was crafted as a habitat for velvet mushrooms, the final of my fall quarter sewing class. The concept of adorning a log with handcrafted, fibrous elements to mimic real-world organisms was both captivating and inspiring. The aim was to imbue the log with a sense of abundance, teeming with life to provide an authentic habitat for my velvet mushrooms. Employing free motion technique, I created 3D flowers and butterflies, while adding handmade pom poms and dried moss for texture. This piece exudes a humble yet whimsical charm, inviting all to enjoy its vibrant presence.
